The term “HYIP”, in case you haven’t heard of it before, stands for:
“High Yield Investment Program”
Not so long ago, these “investment” programs seemed to be very popular and with them came the promise of high yield returns on the money invested by the HYIP members.
Wikipedia defines a HYIP as the following:
“A High-Yield Investment Program (HYIP) is a type of scam. At one time, it was used to refer to an investment program which may have offered a high return on investment.
The term “HYIP” was abused by the operators of scams to camouflage their scams as legitimate investments. Due to this overuse by the operators, HYIP has become synonymous with scam or Ponzi scheme. The usage of the term has evolved to refer to a kind of Ponzi scheme that recruits “investors” through the Internet.”
So what happened? Why should these types of programs be avoided?
Many HYIP programs have flat out scammed their members out of their money by not delivering
any form of return and in some cases, closing shop never to be heard from again after collecting a certain amount of money from the members. LOTS of money, I might add.

Many HYIP programs are also referred to as “Investment autosurfs” as well, so be mindful of these should you happen to come across one being advertised in a legitimate, manual traffic exchange.
Why the Worry?
Besides the reasons given above, these programs unfortunately, seem to be making a resurgence lately.
In the past, most of them closed, took the money and ran, got shut down by the government and then it seemed relatively quiet for a short period as the popularity died and many of their former members reeled from the losses.
BUT again, I’m seeing a fresh crop of new ones pop up, some of them are even claiming that it will be “Just like the good old days” LOL.
In one respect, they’re probably right if you get my meaning.
The purpose of this post isn’t necessarily to tell anyone what to do..
My hope is that the info might help steer any potential future victim away from one of these types of programs.
It just pisses me off that these HYIP scams are still taking advantage of people and are still
reaching an audience over the net.
As you might already know.. ALL HYIP programs are banned from TrafficPunk.
That has always been and always will be the policy there.
I think my reasons are pretty clear for that 
I hope you have found this information helpful enough to make an informed decision to avoid HYIP’s like the plague. If you see a HYIP program in a manual traffic exchange, report it immediately.
Most owners of quality programs will gladly remove it and ban it from ever being shown again.
